UCL - Round of 16 - Manchester City vs FC Barcelona
It has been a while since I've broadcasted on this website, sorry for the delay as I was busy with my winter vacation and then the post-exam traumatic stress. Anyways, back to what I do best, talking about my hospital news and obviously anything new and recent about the Brazilian star Neymar. Well, it has been a little lack luster at the hospital of recent times; to say the least. It's not like I am feeling bored of the hospital or that nothing new is going on, it just feels like I don't have any new challenges. However, last week all of a sudden I got that excitement to go and do more than what I am expected to do and show Initiative. I feel that I am showing great spurts of initiative, but it slowly dies down over a period of time. That is quite similar to how Neymar felt after being injured 2 weeks ago, he broke his ankle in a La Liga Match. Neymar didn't feel like actually going out and playing soccer," I am just not in the mood right now" and that is what extended periods of delay can do to an individual. How do you get back from that, simply by trying to be more proactive and "getting into the game." Now he is back out there and taking the initiative in both practice matches and league games by getting on to the score sheet. I will explain more about this in detail later in this week's journal, now we are going to discuss the extraordinary 2-0 shutout win for Barca against the deadliest attacking team in the BPL, Manchester City.
Barcelona defeated Manchester City 2-0! Let's break this up in to the different segments, Neymar was up there with 1 assist and 95% completed passes along with Messi and Alves who bagged a goal each. They tormented Aguero's absence due to an injury and made Manchester City pay the ultimate price. After Demichelsis fouled Messi on the edge of penalty box and not only conceded a penalty but also a red card, they were in trouble. Right they were, as Barcelona went back to their tika-tika domination style which wrecked havoc and Dani Alves delivered the final punch with a 90th minute goal thanks to a seemingly impossible lofted through ball by Neymar! The way that Neymar played after coming back from an injury was just sensational, he played like he was never injured. The amount of initiative that Neymar showed as a play maker was brilliant, constantly feeding the ball to an aggressive Messi. A completion of 95% pass accuracy is nothing to take lightly as he has better pass completion than the Maestro Xavi. This shows us that Neymar did indeed show not only us but also the coach that he does show the initiative and do more than he asks. This can be seen, since as a winger there is no need to make so many passes, instead he went on and on passing and showing that despite being injured he is out there and bale to preform above average.
Now I will talk about how I show initiative and how my supervisor deals with my mistakes in the hospital. First of all, I have to admit I did not feel like going to the hospital after the long break. But I got used to it after a while, and I have started to show a lot of initiative, as I constantly ask my supervisor about what more can I do to help out in the placement. By doing this I show my supervisor and fellow co-workers that I am passionate about my work and what I do, along with that I display that I always strive to do more and more. However, my supervisor believes that I do not show enough of initiative. When I first heard that, I was flabbergasted, as I thought to myself, "I am doing the best I can, and still my supervisor thinks I am not doing good, I might as well not try then." Then after a couple of hours of intense thinking I realized that there were a few flaws in my work and I needed to improve on that. So, I took my supervisor's words as positive criticism and I now strive for perfection and even do tasks without being told about it, and that just shows initiative right there! Just like Neymar has shown initiative towards his boss Gerardo Martino, I have done so with my supervisor and hopefully in the near future that will be recognized and greatly appreciated by her!
All in all, this was a great week for not only FC Barcelona (undoubtedly the best soccer team), but also for me in the hospital as I have learned many mistakes and have truly learned what it means to take Initiative in my workplace. Although it seemed like negative criticism at first, it was useful at the end for my future and skills as a member of the Co-op program. Barcelona have a great chance to proceed towards the Quarter finals as they destroyed an under preforming Manchester City and have taken the reins in this stage of the competition. Anyways, this is Romil Patel signing off from Camp Nou and always looking to celebrate new accomplishments be it my successes in the hospital, Neymar's successes in Barca or Barcelona's in general. Adios amigos and I will talk to you next time as we will find out if Barca can hold on to their 2 goal aggregate back here in Camp Nou, as well as if my supervisor does believe that I have shown more initiative.
